Stanford field camp (GS 190)
Five current or former members of the Historical Geobiology Lab took part in Stanford's field camp (GS 190: Research in the Field) during June and July, 2017. Dr. Erik Sperling, post-doc Dr. Aodhan Butler, undergraduate Liam Bhajan, summer undergraduate researcher Austin Patch, and former research assistant Austin Miller joined seven other Stanford undergraduates for field camp. During the stratigraphic/paleontology module the class worked to measure section and describe fossils in the Lower-Middle Ordovician Pogonip Group in the southern Egan Range and southern Confusion Range in Nevada and Utah. Despite the very warm temperatures, the class had a great time learning field geology studying these classic lower Paleozoic outcrops!
