New 'Point-Counterpoint' article on oxygen and early animal evolution published

A new paper by lab members Dan Mills and Erik Sperling has been published in Geobiology. This paper stemmed from the 'Point-Counterpoint' format debate at the Banff Geobiology Conference in 2017 between Sperling, Mills and Chris Reinhard, and the ideas from this discussion were then fleshed out in collaboration with Devon Cole, Doug Erwin, Noah Planavsky and Susannah Porter in a group discussion at the Santa Fe Institute. While writing with such a diverse group led to inevitable compromises in how we might state things, the meeting in Santa Fe and the group writing process to try and flesh out both the 'yes' and 'no' answers to various questions was one of the most intellectually stimulating activities we've taken part in. Thanks to Doug Erwin and Devon Cole for organizing the meeting at the Santa Fe Institute, and to Kurt Konhauser for organizing the Geobiology conferences in Banff! The paper can be accessed here
