First SGP paper published

Analysis of the SGP dataset by Lipp et al. suggested the Archean crust was relatively silicic, although more mafic than the present day. Protoliths have remained relatively consistent from 3.0 billion years ago to present

The first paper from the Sedimentary Geochemistry and Paleoenvironments Project (SGP) has been published early online at Geochemical Perspectives Letters. The paper, which is available here, was led by Alex Lipp and Oliver Shorttle, and investigated changing records of provenance and weathering through geologic time. The paper used a new statistical method to de-convolute these two factors, and was applied to major element data from the SGP Phase 1 data release. Great to see the data and papers from SGP starting to roll out!
