Christina Woltz

I am a paleontologist studying the early fossil record of eukaryotes. My interests broadly include the ecology and evolution of eukaryotes through the Proterozoic, as well as the environmental conditions that lead to their fossilization in shale. In the past, I have explored the role of organic matter and clay mineralogy on microfossil preservation. As a postdoc in the Historical Geobiology Lab, I will investigate the effect of ocean redox chemistry on the quality of the Proterozoic fossil record and how changes in ocean redox might bias eukaryotic diversity trends.
