In collaboration with the Sedimentary Geochemistry and Paleoenvironments Project Collaborative Team, former Historical Geobiology lab member Rich Stockey has led a paper analyzing trace metals, organic carbon, and iron geochemical data from the Neoproterozoic through Paleozoic. The paper was published in the journal Nature Geoscience. The results suggest limited oxygenation across the Precambrian-Cambrian boundary, with implications for the cause of the Cambrian explosion.
